It’s almost that time of the year where everyone is in full spring cleaning mode. Families are forced to clean out their closets and businesses are starting to switch out winter products for spring/summer.

It can be rather time-consuming for businesses to start hauling things from the front end to the back. Remember that organization is key.

To make sure that everything gets put away nice and neatly, and is easily accessible when needed, consider installing pallet racks.

Pallet Racks Maximize Space

Pallet racking systems are the most effective for storing medium-to-large sized products and materials.

They allow you to maximize your unused vertical space, creating several additional storage levels. If you have a selective pallet rack system, which allows for immediate access to all pallet positions, then it is best to store the items you need access to most often in the lower levels, and the items not needed as often on the upper levels.

An Inventory Life Saver

How many times do employees have to go digging for something in the back room? Does it take hours to do inventory?

Not anymore!

By organizing your inventory in pallet racks, it will be much quicker and easier to locate the item(s) you are looking for, as well as putting things away.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everything was organized the way it should be?

They Help Avoid Dead Air Space

By installing pallet racking, that means tripling or quadrupling your storage space, and organizing it at the same time. That means it takes your employees less time to locate and access the stock they are looking for.

Take Safety Precautions

Pallet rack systems will suffer wear and tear over time. This often occurs from forklift collisions.

That’s why it is important to make sure there’s enough clearance space between rack isles for the forklift to maneuver to prevent damage to the racks.

It’s important that employees are aware of their surroundings and if they see damage to the racking, report it!

Pallet Rack Repairs

If any of the pallet racks are misaligned, it can collapse. Don’t try to put back any nuts and bolts that fell out or tighten them back in. Notify your maintenance department, and if they are not able to repair it themselves safely, call your local material handling export to perform a pallet rack survey, to identify what repairs need to be made.

It’s important that all employees are aware of the United States Department of Labor’s “Occupational Safety and Health Standards,” especially if they work in a warehouse.

Warehouse Pallet Racking

Warehouse pallet racks are what people see at Costco or Sam’s Club.

These are meant to store large quantities of items and usually require a forklift to get the items down.

So the next time an employee closes off an aisle at Costco or Sam’s Club, watch them use the forklift to bring down more products and restock shelves.
