Pallet Rack Systems To Improve Business Profits

Applied NW Handling Material Handling, Storage Systems and Pallet Racks

Warehouse floor space is one of the most limited commodities for businesses. It doesn’t matter what those items are, size, weight, etc… there’s never enough storage or display floor space available, for any given amount of inventory, without some clever sorting and organization. One of the smartest ways to sort your products for storage or display is by utilizing on plastic pallets and storing on the right pallet racking system. A professionally designed pallet rack system is a cost effective solution that:

* Increases your total storage space
* Improves work flow and reduces labor costs by handling product less and saving time sorting and locating items
* Improves product protection
* Improves safety

Picking the Right Pallet Racking System

Selecting the right pallet racking system is imperative to ensuring that you have the most efficient solution that accomplishes the functions for your specific operations needs.

For example, consider that you have a large variety of products (SKUs) and need easy access to them, a selective pallet rack system would be a good choice for you. While this solution does not offer the most efficient storage space, it does maximize product visibility. Companies that sell their product in a warehouse type set-up, would use selective rack for their product display. If you have many small boxes that you don’t want to store on pallets due to the way they sell and your need to easy access, then a carton flowpallet racking system could be a good choice.

Pallet flowracks and selective racking offer a middle ground between product visibility and storage efficiency. Selective racks allow your employees or clients to see products that are roughly one item deep on either side of the rack, while pallet flowracks will allow for more storage space while storing one item at the front at all times.

Another situation is when you need to store large amounts of the same product (SKU), but don’t require that all the product be easily visible or accessible. You have several different options, including drive-in pallet racks or those that utilize push back track systems, which will generally provide the highest amount of storage efficiency, while offering a diminished ability to see a product in its entirety.
